A tall tree that may reach 25m high with light, reddish brown peeling bark.

The flower buds are yellow and the small white flowers in spring and summer are followed by tiny, globlet-shaped seed capsules.

Rated hardy to frost and may withstand poor, waterlogged soils in winter, drought tender.

Prefers light to heavy, well-drained soils in a sunny position.
